Meet Carolyn Nam, LCSW

My Approach
My therapy space is calm, warm, and nurturing for clients to grow in their self-awareness and self-acceptance. Within the therapy process, I am present to support, encourage, provide feedback, and accommodate to your support needs.
Through a neurodivergent lens and relational framework, we will discover how to best take care of yourself, navigate challenges, and find coping strategies that work for you. I strive to be flexible and creative as I draw from a variety of therapeutic modalities including cognitive-behavioral (CBT), dialectical-behavioral (DBT), emotional regulation skills, executive function supports, and social skills development strategies. There is no one right path nor a direct one through life, but with strengthened sense of self and confidence, clients will be supported finding their way.
About Me (she/her)
I am a therapist, mother, wife, friend, social worker, and dog mom. As a Korean-American born to immigrant parents, I was drawn to the field of social work through my curiosity about people's stories. I am incredibly fortunate to have a meaningful career where I get to continually grow and learn from others. Outside of work, I like to spend time with my family, enjoy sunny days, travel, bake, and play with my sweet dog.
My professional experiences include hospital social work, foster care/adoption services, therapeutic day school, and 20 years experience in private practice.
During undergrad, I studied Sociology at Northwestern University and completed my master's degree at the University of Chicago Crown Family School.
